Last Night’s Reading
Deuteronomy 16-18
Deuteronomy 17
6 On the evidence of two witnesses or
of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; a person shall
not be put to death on the evidence of one witness. 7 The
hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and
afterward the hand of all the people. So you shall purge[a] the evil[b] from your midst.
Legal Decisions by Priests and Judges
8 “If any case arises requiring
decision between one kind of homicide and another, one kind of legal right and
another, or one kind of assault and another, any case within your towns that is
too difficult for you, then you shall arise and go up to the place that
the Lord your God will choose. 9 And you
shall come to the Levitical priests and to the judge who is in office in those
days, and you shall consult them, and they shall declare to you the
decision. 10 Then you shall do according to what
they declare to you from that place that the Lord will choose. And
you shall be careful to do according to all that they direct you. 11 According
to the instructions that they give you, and according to the decision which
they pronounce to you, you shall do. You shall not turn aside from the verdict
that they declare to you, either to the right hand or to the left. 12 The
man who acts presumptuously by not obeying the priest who stands to
minister there before the Lord your God, or the judge, that man shall
die. So you shall purge the evil from Israel. 13 And
all the people shall hear and fear and not act presumptuously again.
Laws Concerning Israel's Kings
14 “When you come to the land that
the Lord your God is giving you, and you possess it and dwell in it
and then say, ‘I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are
around me,’ 15 you may indeed set a king over
you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your
brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you,
who is not your brother. 16 Only he must not
acquire many horses for himself or cause the people to return to
Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to
you, ‘You shall never return that way again.’ 17 And
he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn
away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.
18 “And when he sits on the throne of
his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this
law, approved by[c] the Levitical priests. 19 And it
shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that
he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of
this law and these statutes, and doing them, 20 that
his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not
turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the
left, so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in
Israel.

Laws for Peace Offerings
3 “If his offering is a sacrifice of peace
offering, if he offers an animal from the herd, male or female, he shall
offer it without blemish before the Lord. 2 And he
shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and kill it at the entrance of
the tent of meeting, and Aaron's sons the priests shall throw the blood against
the sides of the altar. 3 And from the sacrifice of the
peace offering, as a food offering to the Lord, he shall offer the
fat covering the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 4 and
the two kidneys with the fat that is on them at the loins, and the long lobe of
the liver that he shall remove with the kidneys. 5 Then
Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar on top of the burnt offering,
which is on the wood on the fire; it is a food offering with a pleasing aroma
to the Lord.
6 “If his offering for a sacrifice of peace
offering to the Lord is an animal from the flock, male or female, he

his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it in front of the tent of
meeting; and Aaron's sons shall throw its blood against the sides of the altar. 9 Then
from the sacrifice of the peace offering he shall offer as a food offering to
the Lord its fat; he shall remove the whole fat tail, cut off
close to the backbone, and the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat
that is on the entrails 10 and the two kidneys with the
fat that is on them at the loins and the long lobe of the liver that he shall

offer it before the Lord 13 and lay his hand on its

shall offer from it, as his offering for a food offering to the Lord, the
fat covering the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails 15 and
the two kidneys with the fat that is on them at the loins and the long lobe of
the liver that he shall remove with the kidneys. 16 And
the priest shall burn them on the altar as a food offering with a pleasing
aroma. All fat is the Lord's. 17 It shall be a
statute forever throughout your generations, in all your dwelling places, that
you eat neither fat nor blood.”

Who Is the Greatest?
33 And they came to Capernaum.
And when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you discussing
on the way?” 34 But they kept silent, for on the
way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest. 35 And
he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would
be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” 36 And
he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his
arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever receives one
such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not
me but him who sent me.”
Anyone Not Against Us Is for Us
38 John said to him, “Teacher, we saw
someone casting out demons in your name,[a] and we tried to stop him, because
he was not following us.” 39 But Jesus said, “Do
not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon
afterward to speak evil of me. 40 For the one who
is not against us is for us. 41 For truly, I say to
you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to
Christ will by no means lose his reward.
Temptations to Sin
42 “Whoever causes one of these
little ones who believe in me to sin,[b] it would be better for him if a great
millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. 43 And
if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life
crippled than with two hands to go to hell,[c] to the unquenchable fire.[d] 45 And if your
foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame
than with two feet to be thrown into hell. 47 And
if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the
kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where their
worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ 49 For
everyone will be salted with fire.[e] 50 Salt is
good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty
again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

Teaching About Divorce
10 And he left there and went to the region
of Judea and beyond the Jordan, and crowds gathered to him again. And again, as
was his custom, he taught them.
2 And Pharisees came up and in
order to test him asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his
wife?” 3 He answered them, “What did Moses
command you?” 4 They said, “Moses allowed a
man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” 5 And
Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you
this commandment. 6 But from the beginning of
creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ 7 ‘Therefore
a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife,[a] 8 and the
two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. 9 What
therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
10 And in the house the disciples
asked him again about this matter. 11 And he said
to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery
against her, 12 and if she divorces her
husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”
Psalm 27:1-6

The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation
Of David.
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold[a] of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evildoers assail me
to eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
it is they who stumble and fall.
3 Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet[b] I will be confident.
4 One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire[c] in his temple.
5 For he will hide me in his
shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will lift me high upon a rock.
6 And now my head shall be
lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
Observation
In Leviticus, GOD has assigned roles to everyone, to the Levites
and Priests to stand before the LORD to minister to HIM in behalf of the
people. To the Kings and Judges, to execute the laws and judgements of GOD. For
me as an eldest, like the Levites and Priests because they are the firstborns
redeemed from the people of Israel.
In Deuteronomy, GOD requires the internal organs of the
animals that are offered to HIM to be burnt because it is HIS, especially the fat
and the blood to be poured out and sprinkled as an atonement. Everything in
this world, exists to serve HIS purpose and pleasure.
In Mark 10, GOD has purposed that man should leave his
father and mother for him to build a new family with his wife, so that they will
bring pleasure to GOD when they bear fruit and multiply and whoever GOD has
joined together, it is GOD’s perfect will that they should not separate.
Application
In Psalms, GOD is my Light, my Salvation, my everything, my
reason for being and for my existence. Without HIM, I cease to live, I do not
want to exists for HE is what fulfills me, not work, not other people, but HE
is the reason why I am here. If I do not please HIM, I am not happy. That is
why this WORD is connected so much to the Word in Leviticus and Deuteronomy, GOD
alone knows what HE has created me for, and from HIM alone will I know the reason
and purpose for my existence. My desire is to please HIM, my purpose is to worship
HIM in Spirit and in Truth, to bring love and pleasure to my GOD, that is the
central core of my existence. If I do not function in my core purpose, I am
without joy or gladness.
In Mark, I understand that my secondary role on earth is to
function as a daughter, sister, wife and mother to my family. I have been
excited to be a wife and mother but it has become an idol out of me and caused
me such bitterness and pain when this desire overpassed my desire to love GOD.
Today, I have broken through out of that curse of Eve and that is why I am
happier in my existence as me.
